Harold Maxwell of Annie's Costumes and Magic of Plantation, Florida passed away on March 13, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
Harold was an active member of the National Costumers Association, serving as vice president along with many years as a member of the Board of Directors.
He and his wife Hilda joined the NCA in the 1990's. Harold's mother had a gift and card store, which grew into a large costume shop. Harold and his daughter Sheri were the first in the organization to open an online store. They later closed their costume shop and continued to operate this large online operation. They shared their knowledge of this endeavor in many seminars and conversations.
Harold was always supportive of anything the NCA did and was always willing to make it happen. The Buyers Group, launched in 1996, was Harold’s idea and passion. He worked out all the details and made sure it helped and benefited the entire organization. We are thankful for his efforts.
The Maxwells had a great sense of humor. Harold and Hilda entered the Showcase one year as Hannukah Harold and Hannukah Hilda wearing their take on a Santa Claus in blue.
Harold treasured his many friends in the National Costumers Association. He and Al Pocock from Mr. Funs Costumes in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio were quite the twins as they frequently adorned their numerous crazy shirts with accessories from their costume stockpile.
Harold will truly be missed.
