The Creative Style show was one of the most popular events at the NCA convention. The 2001 version, generously sponsored by Alexander’s Costumes, once again demonstrated the talent that abounds in our organization. Linda Simmonds of Edmonton Alberta, Canada was the person responsible for this successful production.
The theme for this creative style show is “The Place Where Evil Grows.” With strict limitations of theme, fabrics, trims and other accessories, and cost, member shops must put their imagination, design, ingenuity, and unique costume construction techniques to the test.
That year the box contained 29 different items, yards and yards of black velvet, all sorts and sizes of rhinestones, a dagger, a masquerade mask on a stick and snakes and more snakes. These 13 contestants were challenged to come up with designs that were dark, malevolent, mysterious, mystical, enchanted, and evil.
