With the new decade comes a batch of changes at NCA! First, the management team has changed. Ed Avis and Kathy Furore, the couple who have managed The Costumer magazine for the past five years, are now the new association managers. They have been managing another small organization, the Association of Printing and Data Solutions Professionals (APDSP), since 2013, and they will apply their experience from that effort to NCA. They will continue publishing The Costumer.
"I am honored and excited to join the National Costumers Association as your new executive director," Avis says. "Kathy and I are looking forward to becoming more actively involved with the association and all its members."
Avis and Furore are working on other changes. For example, the website now has a news focus. It will feature a constantly updated collection of articles, photos, profiles and other items of interest to NCA members and the costuming community as a whole.
"The idea behind a news-focused website is that it can greatly increase the profile of the organization," Avis explains. "We did the same thing with the APDSP website, and today that site receives thousands of visitors each month and has put APDSP at the forefront of its industry. Kathy and I are journalists by profession, so a creating a news-oriented website is second nature for us."
The new website is part of an overall communications plan that will tie together the site, Costumer magazine, the e-contact emails, and NCA's social media sites.
The new management team, together with the Board of Directors, are developing new member benefit ideas and member recruitment plan. They welcome your input! Please share any ideas you have with Avis at executivedirector@costumers.org.
