Halloween is a time when people like to take on a different persona, show off in front of others, and generally let loose and have fun. For people with disabilities, Halloween means the same thing. It is a time when they can be whoever they want to be.
Costume shop owners are in a great position to customers with disabilities succeed in their Halloween costume goals, and parents of children with disabilities will be happy for the help. Being prepared to help customers with disabilities will show that your shop is in tune with the entire community. That's why the NCA developed the Halloween for All program.
The program includes a booklet designed to help NCA members better serve customers with disabilities, window stickers to show that your shop participates, and a webinar on the concept. All three elements are now moving forward:
- The booklet is at press and will be delivered to NCA Buyer Members during the week of September 12, and the digital edition will be posted at the same time.
- The window stickers are done and will be mailed with the booklet.
- The webinar is scheduled for September 27 at 10 a.m. Central. We will explain the elements of the program, but the event will be set up in a meeting format, so that all participants can share their own experiences with serving customers with disabilities. We invite everyone who is interested in this topic to attend, even non-members. To attend, please click here to register.
We are grateful to the sponsors of this program!
