Mehron Contest Winner Inspired by Gargoyles

Editor's Note: NCA Vendor Member Mehron sent us a note about the winner of their 31 Days of Mehron Halloween contest, which encourages people to use Mehron products and send images. The winner, Tara, is a special FX artist in Pittsburgh. She drew inspiration from gothic architecture and gargoyles. She created her own prosthetics with homemade molds, pieces of an old bald cap, and latex -- it took her over two days to complete the look! She used three Mehron products: Skin Prep Pro, Paradise Makeup AQ, and Barrier Spray. We asked Mehron Social Media Coordinator Bethany Bonham a few questions about the contest:

Why did Mehron start this contest?

     Mehron began 31 Days of Mehron Halloween back in 2014 as a way to engage our growing Instagram audience. We noticed our followers loved Halloween so we wanted to create a way for them to feel inspired while incorporating Mehron products into their looks. It generated a lot of buzz so we then continued it for years after. We’ve gained over 100,000 submissions to date from across the globe. It’s a great way for us to be able to see all of the amazing ways people use our products.

Tell us briefly about the process - how did people enter? how were the entries judged?

    To enter 31 Days, you must post a photo of your original makeup look using atleast one Mehron product. You must tag the @mehronmakeup Instagram in your caption, along with using the hashtags #31daysofmehronhalloween and #mehron2023.

     We select one winner every single day of October, pulled from all submissions to that date in the hashtags. Each finalist wins a 30 Color Palette! Then, once submissions close and all 31 winners have been selected, we go through all of our finalists and choose the best look to crown our Grand Champ. We judge based upon use of product, technique, and artistic creativity! It’s a great process because every Mehron employee gets a chance to vote for who they think should be crowned winner!

What else can you tell us about the winner?

     Fun fact about our winner: she started her journey through a love of painting skulls and presenting her work at art shows! She started her makeup journey back in 2015! Click here to read more about Tara and her skills.

      Tara won over $3,700.00 worth of Mehron products, including some other products from Eldora Lashes and INH Wigs!
