The preservation of our organization's history has been foremost on my mind. In August of 2023, we will be celebrating the 100th birthday of the National Costumers Association. As I have been organizing and sorting through all the historical papers and pictures, I am amazed how dedicated our founding members were. They saw a need to band together and establish an association of businesspeople with like interests and goals. It didn't happen overnight, it took a lot of work and fortitude but in 1923 they succeeded, and the National Costumers Association was born.
I came across an interesting excerpt from The Costumer dated May 1927, written by John Hansen, who at the time was secretary/treasurer of the NCA. Mr. Hansen tells the story of these dedicated individuals and their efforts to work together and establish the organization we have come to love and enjoy.
