Spring Fling 2022 was amazing!!! Reconnecting with old and new friends is what this weekend was about. Although we spend most of our time shopping, talking, and eating, we always seem to find interesting things to do. Watching the Kentucky Derby together was 5 minutes of hilarious fun. Those who did not bring hats to wear for the Derby, were provided interesting ones by Louella Torrence. (If you have never seen Louella’s hat collection, the pictures will testify.)
We toured the John S. Yoder home and museum on Friday. It was the first Amish settler in Sugarcreek Ohio. Saturday was a bit more adventurous as we boarded a wagon to tour the Amish farm at Walnut Creek. Believe me this was not your average Amish farm. It was not like anything I ever expected to find in Walnut Creek Ohio. Crazy, unusual animals who loved to eat, entertained us the entire wagon ride. Louella Torrence made “friends” with a very hungry Watus, who had extremely large horns and a tongue that seemed to have no end. This farm is a well-kept secret!!
Saturday evening Janine Caufield and Pam Markel presented Linda Adams Foat with her Honorary Lifetime Membership Plaque. We also honored Merlin Foat with a Unsung Hero Award. We are grateful to them for their service to the NCA.
We finished each evening off with a round of games. “Heads up” is one of our favorite games as well as the yearly competitive game of “Spoons” It’s been known in previous years to become a bit aggressive haha.
Sunday was a morning of goodbyes to old and new friends. Everyone that attended are looking forward to our gathering next year.
Those in attendance were, Janine and Kerry Caufield, Stan and Kathy Thomas, Pam and Dennis Markel, Louella and her son Jason Torrence, Linda and Merlin Foat, Terri Greenberg, Debbie Meredith, Carol Pocock, Merilee Pocock, Pat Coppack, Loraine and Jay Brown, Wendy Goldstein and Tina Lorenzoni.
